Abstract
Intersectionality is a theory, a concept, a heuristic device, a model, and a methodology that centres on matters of gender, race, and other intersecting forms of oppressions. It has diverse origins - Black feminist scholars, LBTQI activists, and Third World feminists, all of whom highlight the complex contextuality that shapes their marginalisation. This chapter reviews what intersectionality is, why intersectional research ought to be undertaken while researching migration, and offers prompts to guide researchers on how to do intersectional migration research.
