Gross energy requirements for air transport

Mortimer, N. D. (1975). Gross energy requirements for air transport. ERG Report 8; Energy Research Group, The Open University, Milton Keynes.

Abstract

This is the second report in a series of four which attempt to investigate the use of energy in transport. The purpose of the first three reports is to estimate the major direct and indirect energy inputs to various modes of transportation. The fourth report summarises and compares the results of the previous three, as well as investigating some les common forms of transport. The methods and assumptions associated with this type of analysis should become apparent in all four studies. Although the results are by no means complete, the limitations of the analysis and regions for improvement are adequately discussed. This particular study deals exclusively with the energy analysis of the common forms of air transport.
