Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) is an extensive and rapidly growing technology. Due to its networked nature and rapid implementation in various fields, security is considered a primary challenge. Due to various security vulnerabilities, IoT based infrastructure is prone to numerous security threats which in return affect infrastructure on a wider scale. This paper proposes a three-way security framework which is based on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certification mechanism. This framework represents a way to authenticate both the IoT device and the user through a cloud system using digital certificates. The paper introduces the technique and provides a tutorial on IoT authentication paving the way for future work to provide a validation of the protocols.
