Abstract
The article discusses Critical Virtual Exchange (CVE) as a framework for inclusive and equitable student exchanges in higher education. CVE combines low-bandwidth technologies, focuses on underrepresented students, integrates Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and promotes translanguaging approaches. It leverages digital skills and critical digital literacy for social justice-oriented action. CVE is an instantiation of critical global citizenship education (CGCE) and fosters collaborative action and socio-political change. Examples of CVE projects include environmentally friendly garden development and multimodal sustainability campaigns. CVE has the potential to transform internationalization at home and create new legacies in higher education based on inclusive and research-informed practices.
