Abstract

In this keynote lecture, delivered at the University of Lisbon on Friday 10 November 2023, I presented new essential theoretical contexts for and interpretations of Ford Madox Ford's letters. The lecture was closely linked to my role as Co-General Editor of The Complete Works of Ford Madox Ford. Phase 1, The Collected Letters, in 6 volumes, is now underway and will bring more than 2000 previously unpublished letters by this central, influential figure of 20th century literature to light.
