Abstract

This video features three people who have been living with HIV for over 20 years talking about their experiences of stigma. HIV is now a manageable, unseen LTC which cannot be transmitted when people are receiving effective treatment. In the past however (before treatment) HIV led to AIDS which was a very visible, disruptive, life limiting condition associated with already marginalised people. Nowadays many people living with HIV choose to conceal their status due to ongoing health stigma. HIV is a physical disability which means people living with are protected by the Equality Act 2010.
