Abstract
This seminar paper reflected on the process and outcome of the completion of a Professional Doctorate in Education. The seminar offered a critical reflection on the early stages of the research journey, exploring decision making from the identification of a gap in the knowledge about teachers enactment of children's rights within their practice, reviewing the literature and the adoption of a Foucauldian theoretical lens. The rationale for the case study design frame was considered and a discussion of the qualitative data collection methods used. An overview was also provided of how the research was designed to make an important contribution to the field of children's rights through the final exploration of three thematic findings which have important implications for policy makers and practitioners in Wales.
