Abstract

Agile software development methodologies such as Extreme Programming continue to diffuse throughout the software engineering community, yet little is understood how and why this diffusion is sustained. Moreover, the dearth of empirical evidence elucidating the benefits and constraints of agile methods raises questions as to what sources of information organisations use in order to decide whether to adopt agile methods; the factors which persuade organisations to adopt agile methods, and the type of evidence persuasive to practitioners in those organisations. It is this phenomenon that this research wishes to explore.
