Abstract

We present a novel method for resolving coordination ambiguities. This type of ambiguity is one of the most pervasive and challenging. We test the hypothesis that the most likely reading of a coordination ambiguity can be indicated by the distri-butional similarity of terms. Our experiments show that words or phrases in a coordination which have distributional similarity also tend to have "coordination first" characteristics.
