Abstract

This chapter foregrounds teachers’ voices in using digital books and harnessing digital reading opportunities with children in primary schools. We consider the research that has documented the significant potential of digital books to motivate young learners to read and positively engage them in the reading experience. We outline how our experiences of running a digital reading club and creating reader communities around graphic stories, have enriched children’s reading for pleasure. Our own reading practices that draw on both print and digital texts, have influenced our positive attitudes towards reading on screen, which we perceive as enriching and expanding contemporary reading experiences.
