Abstract
Multiple songs sharing the title ‘Three Acres and a Cow’ were published in the 12 months around the general election of 1885, when ‘Three Acres and a Cow’ became a slogan associated with proposed land reform. This study explores why so many songs on this theme were circulating and what they tell us about the culture of song production and singing in late nineteenth-century England.
