Abstract
RUMPUS was developed as a research group to examine the relationship between fun and learning. At first glance this topic focus might appear unproblematic or even mundane. However, whilst in research with children and young people the notion and significance of fun is ubiquitous, arising across numerous research contexts, fun is rarely taken seriously as a topic and is side-lined in research (Tatlow-Golden 2021). Furthermore, within Higher Education the notion that fun merits research or has place in meaningful pedagogies is controversial.
