Abstract

This essay proposes a reflection on the contribution that philosophy and the humanities may bring to the discipline of public management in Italy. The article, takes a broad perspective in examining the relationship between philosophy and public management, taking the move from the revisiting of the very notion of public administration. The article concludes on a reflection about the Italian intellectual tradition of public management and sees it as partaking – with its distinctive traits – to a broader intellectual tradition to the study and practice of public administration and public services management.
