Abstract
This chapter explores sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Ottoman costume albums in relation to the theme of entertainment. There are many approaches to engaging with this topic, of which the most obvious is to exa,ine the rich and varied depictions of entertaining actions and scenes in these albums, including: visions of dancers and musicians, moments of leisure, or representations of celebration such as the men enjoying a ferris wheel to mark the conclusion of Ramazan.
