Abstract

This chapter aims to make engineering for development (E4D) visible to an audience beyond engineers themselves and those at its receiving end. Given its influence and ubiquity in development practice the time has come for a serious examination of its role. The chapter uses case studies to identify the key concepts that should enable us to identify the key dimensions of, and engage with E4D.
