Abstract
In the world of cactus & succulent (C & S) literature, books suitable for children to young adults have been a little-recognised resource. This paper is the first systematic treatment of this subject. 116 C & S books for children were identified and analysed. Of these, 82% are educational, or non-fiction; 18% are fiction and 15% are based around poetry, with 10% activity and 10% colouring books. The most productive place of publication is the US which accounts for 82% of the titles, with the UK trailing at 14%. The only other publishing countries were Spain and New Zealand. Ten selected and representative books are briefly summarised and illustrated.
