Abstract
The chapter provides a discussion of Ford's trilogy The Soul of London (1905), The Heart of the Country (1906), and The Spirit of the People (1907) - published together as England and the English in 1907 in America. These are significant texts in terms of Ford's ouevre, in terms of modernism, and in terms of their ideas about Englishness.
