Abstract

This chapter explores the policing of social media in Tanzania. It argues that understanding the impact of increased social media use on politics in Africa requires consideration of the ways in which policing and politics are connected. Policing of social media use and content can be seen as part of a long history of police involvement in politics in Tanzania and elsewhere in the region.
