Two rare Bolivian endemic cacti

Walker, Colin C. (2018). Two rare Bolivian endemic cacti. New Zealand Cactus & Succulent Journal, 71(3) pp. 14–17.

Two rare endemic Bolivian cacti were observed in flower in the Duthie Park collection, Aberdeen. Vatricania guentheri produces a lateral cephalium that extends down the stem up to 50 cm in length from which the bell-shaped nocturnal flowers emerge. Cleistocactus reae is a little-known micro-endemic from the Bolivian Yungas. It has slender basally-branching stems up to 2 m tall with strawberry red straight flowers up to 7 cm long.
