Abstract
Written in the centenary year of the 1916 rising, this poem creates a clear-eyed commemorative moment that brings north and south together in a darkly humorous piece. An abused sonnet, the poem brings the political close to the transformative effect of poetry, referencing both Eamonn DeValera and Louis MacNeice.
