Abstract

A neoliberalist-oriented market adapted to specific contexts has been a feature of the western world's ideal economic policies, with a pervasive effect on all dimensions of society including (for good and for bad) the reconfiguration of urban areas. In the last 20 years economic speculation within the city space has been juxtaposed with the discourse of sustainability, efficiency and competitiveness that has culminated in the emerging vision of the smart city.
