Abstract

The article approaches David Malouf's text from a musical point of view, focusing on the voices, sonorities and resonances that form the multiple streams of sound of the novel. Several key topics are explored, centering on Malouf’s creation of distinct musical geographies to differentiate between his two settings, Australia and France, home and away, peace and war, as well as the ways in which these places and their soundscapes overlap.
