Abstract
‘A Big Data History of Music’ has been a collaboration between the British Library and Royal Holloway, University of London, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, with the objective of cleaning and enriching seven major music datasets, making the data available to researchers, and investigating the tools and techniques for analysing these sources. The conclusion of the project was marked by a Study Day at the British Library on 11 March 2015, to report on achievements and to showcase how quantitative analysis can complement more traditional approaches to historical musicology.
