Abstract
This paper presents findings from large-scale quantitative studies on students and teachers who participated in the English in Action (Bangladesh) school-based teacher professional development programme. Results will be presented, along with background information on EIA, and methodological details of the studies. The paper discusses impact on learner outcomes: (1) – students’ English language competence (2) classroom practice and (3) perceptions. The paper hopes to provide insight into how the three research areas work together, and may potentially help inform the design of evaluation and research of other teacher education programmes.
