Abstract

Several chapters in this book address the sorts of social and psychological factors that can increase our vulnerability because they negatively affect our lives and our experiences of health and illness. This chapter aims to introduce you to selected groups of vulnerable adults and provide you with information about their needs which will be useful to you in practice. These groups are older people, the mentally ill and the homeless. Suggestions for further reading can be found in the extensive reference list at the end of the chapter.
