Abstract
[About the book]
Equality of access is a fundamental principle of current music education policy, yet experience shows that this can be difficult to achieve. This book explores some of the reasons for this, and looks at what a music education policy for the 21st century might involve. It gives an insight into the work of music education practitioners and community musicians who are successfully reaching out and engaging young people whose musical needs might otherwise be overlooked. Reaching Out is essential reading for anyone involved in broadening access to musical opportunities.
