Abstract

Historically the number of students progressing from postgraduate diplomas to MSc’s within the Faculty of Maths, Computing and Technology (MCT) at the Open University has been low. This paper discusses the rationale for a new type of research module that it was hoped would overcome some of the barriers to progression students’ identified, and a range of issues that arose during the development of that module.
