Το εξαιρετικό αυτό βιβλίο παρέχει μια πλήρη επισκόπηση σε υψηλό επιστημονικό επίπεδο όλων των θεωριών του ιμπεριαλισμού, τόσο των κλασικών θέσεων όσο και των σύγχρονων ερμηνειών. Ανατέμνει με μεγάλη διορατικότητα και επάρκεια τις θεωρητικές υποθέσεις των διαφόρων προσεγγίσεων. Για να αποτιμήσουν τις θεωρίες που εξετάζουν, οι συγγραφείς συνθέτουν με εξαιρετική αποτελεσματικότητα αφενός την έννοια του συλλογικού-κοινωνικού κεφαλαίου που θεμελίωσε ο Μαρξ και αφετέρου την άποψη για την ιμπεριαλιστική αλυσίδα που ανέπτυξαν ο Λένιν και ο Πουλαντζάς.

  • A first edition (most) of the book was titled Rethinking Imperialism: A Study of Capitalist Rule (Palgrave-McMillan 2009). This Greek version is longer than the English text as we have added three chapters referring to the Greek crisis, the crisis of the euro area (chap. 12), a further elaboration of positions on the role of the financial sphere in modern capitalism (chap. 13) and an interpretation of system strategies to exit from the crisis on terms beneficial to the ruling capitalist classes (ch 14). Moreover, apart from the necessary stylistic corrections, we conducted a review of bibliographical references in order to refer to existing Greek translations, in order to facilitate the access of the Greek reader in the referenced texts
