Abstract

This presentation will describe the vision of the new Australian initiative being lead from one of the largest regional educational providers and how it wishes to harness international collaboration and cooperation for research and capacity development with African Universities. This directly addresses the theme of harnessing the potential of universities by seeking cooperation among African researchers and Australian ICT-related research programmes and eLearning. DEHub aims to share current programmes of research at UNE and its partners for supporting African and Australian R&D and how eLearning researchers and practitioners can benefit from them. Three themes will be drawn on DEHub: 1). Distance Education Learning. 2). Distance Education Community; and 3). Distance Education Research and Evaluation. This presentation also meets the theme Policy and Planning in enabling international cooperation for research and development. A practical outcome of this presentation is to seek new friends in creating a vibrant DEHub that connects researchers across large and geographically disperse populations.
