Abstract

The chapter examines the way in which concertos were published in Britain and in Europe, and the implications of the publication media for performance modes. Performances of concertos as solos, with small groups of instrumentalists, and with orchestra are discussed, focussing on the music of Muzio Clementi and his contemporaries.
