Abstract

Residual stresses play an important role in the strength and life of the components in service. Furthermore, full knowledge of the residual stress field through the whole component is crucial to understanding how residual stresses impact on failure. In the present investigation through thickness residual stress measurements are carried out using the deep hole drilling technique in large components used in the steel rolling industry.
