Abstract

An account of the establishment of the Open University MA in Literature some twenty years ago, its revision in the 1990s, and the plans for its replacement by a new MA in English. It argues that while the explosion of electronic resources in the last ten years or so has in many ways revolutionized the teaching and study of literature, there remains an important place for face-to-face contact in the teaching of Literature at MA level.
