Abstract
It has long been recognized that non-therapeutic surgical operations upon the genitals of a female are unlawful. Indeed the Female Circumcision Act 1985 stated this and the Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003 repealed this earlier Act, clarifying the law regarding non-therapeutic surgery upon the genitals of a female.
