Variation of residual stresses during cross-rolling

Wierzbanowski, K.; Wroński, S.; Baczmański, A.; Wróbel, M.; Fitzpatrick, M.; Braham, Ch. and Lodini, A. (2007). Variation of residual stresses during cross-rolling. Journal of Neutron Research, 15(3-4) pp. 275–280.

Residual stresses in cross-rolled polycrystalline copper and low carbon steel are studied. Cross-rolling modifies both residual stresses and crystallographic texture. Consequently, it can be used in order to improve the final properties of a material by introducing a given state of internal stress and by imposing more symmetry to the texture.
