Abstract
This surprising study draws together the disparate fields of postcolonal thoery and book histoty in a challenging and illuminating way. Via case studies set in Asia and Africa it challenges some of the convention assumptions behind book history, and opens out radical new perspectives onto the cultures of orality, manuscript and print.
