Critical Discourse Analysis and Semiotics (in Law): Interrogating Power and Meaning

Szablewska, Natalia (2025). Critical Discourse Analysis and Semiotics (in Law): Interrogating Power and Meaning. In: Research Methods Masterclass, 11 Feb 2025.

Abstract

This masterclass will offer an advanced exploration of critical discourse analysis (CDA) and semiotics as interdisciplinary methodologies for analysing (legal) texts and discourses. It will examine how language and symbols within the law (and beyond) construct power, authority and identity, revealing implicit biases and societal narratives embedded in legal (and social) frameworks.
