Abstract

The Intersection of Motherhood & Policing: Challenges, Biases, and Recommendations examined the experiences of mothers in UK policing, with a focus on maternity-related challenges and their impact on well-being. The presentation highlighted key issues such as workplace support during pregnancy, maternity leave, and returning to work, alongside the role of mental health in navigating these transitions. It addressed institutional biases, structural barriers, and cultural stigmas, offering practical recommendations to improve support through enhanced maternity policies, flexible working arrangements, and mental health resources. This session aimed to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for mothers in UK policing.
