The Quarterly Survey of Small Business in Britain monitored small business attitudes and performance for 30 years. It was created in 1984 by Graham Bannock, research director of the landmark Bolton Committee Report on small firms (1971), and was published continuously until 2014. The Open University hosted the Quarterly Survey from 1989 and it was formally adopted in 2009. Survey findings have been used by policy-makers, businesses and researchers, as well as providing news stories in both general and specialist media. The Quarterly Survey was an editorially independent research publication and any opinions expressed in its reports are not necessarily those of The Open University or of any other organisations.
