Abstract

In Mathematics and Statistics there is a need for students to continually practice techniques in a supported environment even during gaps between studies and be given appropriate advice on areas where they need to revise previously established knowledge in order to have the best chance of success. At the Open University I have developed a suite of interactive 'revise and refresh' websites and revision 'boot-camps' where students can self-identify areas they need to practice in a supported learning environment. By looking at how students have used the resources we can evaluate their effectiveness in relation to retention and pass rates gaining insight into how students study remotely. This paper will focus on the rationale for the study gap support how it is used and the progress of the students who used it.
