Abstract

G.F. Handel, Orgelkonzerte I, Sechs Konzerte für Orgel und Orchester Opus 4, HWV 289-294, Konzert für Harfe und Orchester HWV 294, edited jointly with William D. Gudger; xxxvii + 168 pp., Hallische Händel-Ausgabe, Serie IV, Band 2, (Bärenreiter, Kassel 2002). ISMN M-006 49586-3 (Music edition: full score with critical commentary).

This was prepared as a replacement for an earlier HHA score issued in 1956, which was edited followng principles now considered unacceptable, with an inadequate Preface and critical commentary, and editorial interference with the music text. The music text has been completely revised with a full collation of the sources; the concerto, HWV 294, is printed in its two versions,one for organ and one for harp; also supplied in an Appendix is the “Alleluia” chorus which Handel added to HWV 292 when it was performed in the oratorio Athalia in London in 1735.
