Abstract
In re-reading representative texts by Huysmans, Lee, Pater and Wilde, in this essay I will aim to demonstrate that the history of Decadent writing is inseparable from a concept of decadent reading, and specifically, from a socially constructed, aesthetically self-conscious, and fictionally mediated practice of reading: a practice of reading that offers a possible epistemology of Decadence.
