Dorrian, Jane (2022). Evaluation of the HAF/Welsh Active Early Years Programme. Early Years Wales (In Press).
Abstract
This report presents an evaluation of the Welsh Active Early Years Project delivered by Early Years Wales. The project aimed to improve the physical activity and wellbeing levels of parents and cares of young children through participation in weekly physical activity sessions. Wellbeing was measured using the Warwick Edinburgh Well Being Scale and physical activity was measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. Participants also provided narrative feedback. The results showed that participation in the programme had a positive impact on wellbeing and activity levels. Participants were keen to be involved in other activity sessions, but there was no effective system to support this progress in place. More than 90% of the participants were white females and future work needs to focus on gathering data from other populations.
