Abstract
Cotyledon is a small genus of Crassulaceae with a very wide distribution throughout Africa. It is extremely diverse, particularly in terms of stem and leaf form and arrangement. Cotyledon orbiculata, C. eliseae, C. pendens and C. tomentosa are discussed in detail to illustrate this diversity. Hybridisation accounts for a significant amount of this diversity which is illustrated here.
