Blood Oaths, Boundaries and Brothers.
In: The Power of Oral History: Memory, healing and development. 12th International Oral History Conference, 24-27 June 2002, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
This paper discusses a subject raised in oral testimony that barely appears in any written form: an alleged blood brotherhood between representatives of the Maasai community and leading British settlers, in British East Africa in the 1900s. An excerpt from my DPhil dissertation, Moving the Maasai: A Colonial Misadventure (University of Oxford 2002), published as a book of the same title in 2006.
