Abstract
This article draws on primary research to consider the experiences of midwives who have supported complex homebirths. Unpacking the research findings, midwife and researcher Anna-Marie Madeley provides valuable and nuanced insights from the midwives’ perspectives, across two distinct narratives: ‘antenatal planning and physical intrapartum provision’. Within this context, the notion of the ‘conflicted midwife’ arises, through which we can reflect upon our own experiences and consider how we might navigate delivering such care.
