Abstract
This article explores some links between the issue of “identity” and political and social responsibility in the current context of an unfair and unequal “global society”. For that reason the idea is developed of a “global sense of place” in order to explain that the identity of any place is not simply rooted in it but to a great extent constructed through the interelationships with other places. This conception poses new political challenges.
