Abstract
The chapter examines the use of computer software (Atlas Ti) in analysing interview data from the Flexibilities in Further Education project (1999-2001). In particular it draws attention to the ways in which categories which enable quantitative analysis are active in shaping certain kinds of sense, whilst suppressing others.
