Abstract

In this intriguing article Jenny Houssart does us all a favour with her examination of what children are supposed to be doing when they refuse to co-operate — surely a question many teachers have pondered. Although her study discusses this situation in relation to mathematics lessons, the conclusions reached have general relevance.
