Support teachers, and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) in particular, will welcome Jenny Houssart's exploration, in this closely observed case study, of the difficulties children experience with counting. Her suggestions concerning the role of LSAs in the National Numeracy Strategy are as timely, in terms of the NNS, as they are sensitive to the needs and aspirations of LSAs.
