Abstract
This is an edited collection of essays in the field of comparative aesthetics (thirteen essays plus an introduction by the editors). The essays range from classics in the field to very recent work. The essays are concerned to compare major items in the aesthetic theories of Europe, India, China and Japan, locating similarities and differences as appropriate. The Introduction gives an introduction to the subject of comparative aesthetics, and lists some important milestones in its history in Europe and India.
